Changes in Family Day Care Ratios from 2014, Created - Sunday, 16 June 2013

Our service and all registered educators are committed to the smooth transition to the new ratios and are actively working towards this. We are mindful of the flow-on effect to families in the form of additional costs and potentially less availability of places for children. The service is confident we can meet the challenge with predicted continued viability and growth in the provision of education and childcare well into the future.

National Quality Framework Information, Created - Thursday, 28 February 2013

The National Quality Framework is being progressively phased in from 1 January 2012 with final changes to ratios and qualifications to be made 1 January 2014 for FDC ( in NSW). Greater Hume Children Services has had a 1:5 ratio for under school age children and is actively working towards the transition to a lower ratio. The staff and educators within the service are positive about the greater benefits for children that lower ratios will bring.

Greater Hume Children Services exceeds the national quality standard in Home Child Care, Created - Monday, 29 October 2012

Greater Hume Children Services is delighted to announce they have been rated as exceeding the national quality standard.

The new national quality standards for children’s services were implemented from 1 January 2012 encompassing a new national regulation for children’s services and an early childhood curriculum entitled the early years learning framework (EYLF).

The standards measure the holistic nature of care and education across all registered family day care, long day care, pre-school and out of school hours services in Australia.

Greater Hume Children Services to deliver In Home Child Care , Created - Sunday, 28 October 2012

We were delighted to announce that Greater Hume Children Services was one of only 15 services across Australia to have been successful in receiving an allocation of In Home Care Places to operate in both New South Wales and Victoria.

The In Home Care service is similar to Family Day Care but operates in the family home with a registered and qualified educator coming to them and is subsidised with the government child care benefit.
